U.S. Soldier Dies in Attack in Baghdad

BAGHDAD — Attackers opened fire Friday on a U.S. patrol in the Iraqi capital, killing one soldier, the military said.
The Task Force Baghdad soldier died of a gunshot wound when his patrol in northeast Baghdad was attacked Friday afternoon, the military said in a statement.
The soldier’s name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
At least 1,519 members of the U.S. military have died since the beginning of the war in March 2003, according to an Associated Press count.
