Music to take off and land by

The Dallas and Fort Worth symphonies hope to make a Texas-size noise next month -- on June 13, to be precise, when they will join together for the first time in their combined 180-year history to play at the dedication ceremony of the new International Terminal D at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.
Miguel Harth-Bedoya, former Los Angeles Philharmonic associate conductor and now the Fort Worth Symphony’s music director, will lead Copland’s “Fanfare for the Common Man” and Jose Pablo Moncayo’s “Huapango.”
Dallas Symphony Music Director Andrew Litton will conduct Gershwin’s “An American in Paris.”
On the other hand, the musicians -- 50 from each orchestra -- may have a hard time being heard in the 2-million-square-foot facility, which was designed to handle 37,000 passengers daily. But at least they won’t be competing with foot traffic. The terminal won’t open officially until July.
