Boston College hires Jagodzinski

Boston College hired Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Jeff Jagodzinski, a former Golden Eagles assistant, to be its head coach.
Jagodzinski, 43, signed a five-year contract and is scheduled to be introduced on campus tonight. Jagodzinski spent 14 years as a college coach at Wisconsin Whitewater, Northern Illinois, Louisiana State and East Carolina before serving as offensive coordinator at Boston College in 1997-98.

Miami offensive line coach Mario Cristobal was named head coach at Florida International. Cristobal, 36, becomes the first Cuban-American head coach in major college football. Only Northwestern’s Pat Fitzgerald, 32, is younger in Division I-A.... Robb Akey, Washington State’s defensive coordinator, has been hired to replace Dennis Erickson as Idaho’s head coach, the Spokesman-Review of Spokane, Wash., reported.... Penn State defensive tackle Ed Johnson has been suspended for violating a team rule and will miss the Outback Bowl.... Georgia Coach Mark Richt promoted quarterbacks coach Mike Bobo to offensive coordinator.
