Fullerton Loses Big West Opener

Dawin Whiten scored 25 points as Cal Poly San Luis Obispo rallied for an 83-70 victory over Cal State Fullerton in the teams’ Big West Conference opener Monday in Titan Gym.
Gabe Stephenson added 16 points for the Mustangs, 3-8 overall and 1-0 in the Big West.
Bobby Brown scored 28 points for the Titans (6-4, 0-1) and made six shots from three-point range to move within two of the school’s career record for three-point baskets.
Long Beach State 77, UC Davis 48 -- Shawn Hawkins tied a career high of 24 points in the win at Long Beach.
Hawkins had six points in a decisive 16-4 run in the second half for the 49ers (5-6). UC Davis (3-9) shot 33%.
UC Riverside 81, UC Santa Barbara 78 -- Larry Cunningham scored 18 points for Riverside in its Big West Conference opener at home.
The Highlanders (1-10, 1-0) shot 55%. Chris Devine led Santa Barbara (5-6, 0-1) with 21 points and 11 rebounds.
