There’s Madness Almost Everywhere

Diane Pucin, how could you write an article on NCAA snubs and not even mention the Cincinnati Bearcats? That team had a remarkable year considering all of the adversity those players faced. For the last two weeks, all of the TV analysts said Cincy was in, and that has been their No. 1 grievance about the pairings. Where were you, Diane? It was national news.

Part of Pepperdine’s athletic mission statement reads, “Field disciplined and competitive teams seeking superior athletic performance within established rules and ethical conduct.”
Obviously, Athletic Director John Watson, whose galling description of Paul Westphal as “one of the nicest, most ethical men that I know,” places ethical conduct low on his list of priorities.
I guess this can be expected from a university that features Kenneth Starr as the dean of its law school.
