Teacher gets 4 years in prison for sex with girl

A Palo Alto gym teacher and volleyball coach was sentenced Friday to four years in prison for having a sexual relationship with a student for three years, prosecutors said.
William Giordano, who worked at Jordan Middle School, began having sex in 1991 with a 14-year-old girl he coached. The victim later reported the relationship to the police, leading to his arrest in August 2005.
Earlier this year, Giordano pleaded no contest in San Mateo County Superior Court to 10 counts of lewd acts upon a minor.
