Jackson Ordered to Pay $60,000

A Los Angeles judge Wednesday rejected attempts by Michael Jackson’s ex-wife to resume visits with the couple’s two children without going through the formal procedure for changing custody.
Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Robert Schnider ordered the pop star to pay Deborah Rowe’s lawyer $60,000 in fees but denied Rowe’s request to file some documents under seal.
The rulings came at the first hearing in the custody battle between Jackson and Rowe since the case was moved from the jurisdiction of a privately paid judge into a public court.
After a settlement conference set for next week, both sides are due back in court Sept. 18. If the case is not settled, Rowe can pursue visitation and custody.
