Angels: Gary Matthews Jr. on Saturday night became the third player in franchise history to hit into three double plays in one game, not the second, as was announced by the Angels and reported in Sunday’s Sports section. In addition to Matthews and Chad Curtis, Jim Fregosi hit into three double plays against the Boston Red Sox on July 14, 1963.
