Man shot dead outside his home

A 21-year-old man was fatally shot outside his home near 98th Street and McKinley Avenue in South Los Angeles, authorities said.
The shooting occurred about 11:30 p.m. as the victim was leaving his residence, said Los Angeles Police Department Officer Kate Lopez.
It was unclear if the gunman was on foot or in a car, Lopez said.
The victim was shot several times and taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Lopez said.
