at Long Beach State 82, New Mexico State 77: Donovan Morris scored 30 points and the 49ers (3-2) won their third in a row. With Long Beach State trailing, 75-71, with 2 minutes 16 seconds to play, Morris, a senior guard, led a 9-0 run. The 49ers shot 61% in the second half. Jahmar Young had 17 points for the Aggies (2-2).
at Illinois State 87, UC Santa Barbara 59: Osiris Eldridge and Champ Oguchi each had 18 points to lead the Redbirds (7-0) in the title game of the World Vision Invitational. Jesse Byrd led the Gauchos (3-4) with 17 points and eight rebounds. Paul Roemer had five assists and Chris Devine had nine points.
at Eastern Washington 78, UC Irvine 64: Benny Valentine scored 21 points and the Eagles (4-2) overcame a sluggish start to earn the victory. Andy Genao had 14 points, six of which keyed a 14-0 burst that gave Eastern Washington a 55-37 lead midway through the second half. Brett Lauer had five three-point baskets in the first half and finished with 16 points for the Anteaters (0-5).
WOMEN
at USC 62, UC Santa Barbara 53: The Trojans overcame a slow start and shot 48% in the second half in their first home game this season. Nadia Parker led USC (3-1) with 19 points and freshman Briana Gilbreath had a career-high 18 points. Jenna Green led the Gauchos (1-3) with 15 points.
at UCLA 96, Cal State Northridge 53: The Bruins (4-1) cruised to their largest margin of victory since beating Sacramento State, 106-43, in November 2002. Erika Tukiainen had a career-high 16 points for the Bruins, who forced a season-best 32 turnovers and converted them into 39 points. Freshman Jasmine Erving had career highs of 21 points and 13 rebounds for Northridge (0-7).
