Another day of protests, riots

Times Wire Reports

Youths hurled rocks and Molotov cocktails, and Athens police responded with stun grenades and tear gas on the seventh day of rioting triggered by the shooting death of a teenager but now tapping discontent with the government’s economic policies.

Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis rejected calls to resign. “There should be no confusion between the emotions felt by young students over the tragic death of a colleague . . . and this destructive mania,” he said.
