Walt Disney Co.’s ABC Inc. asked U.S. regulators to reconsider a proposed $1.43-million fine for airing a television drama that showed a woman’s bare buttocks, saying the broadcast wasn’t indecent.
The scene of actress Charlotte Ross from the show “NYPD Blue” as she prepared to shower was “entirely nonsexual,” ABC told the Federal Communications Commission.
The network said the proposed fine of $27,500 against each of 52 stations was contrary to precedent and decency standards.
