Trying German chocolate anew

When I was in fourth grade (around 1964), I sent away for a paperback called “Baker’s Chocolate and Coconut Favorites.” It cost less than a dollar, and I made the German chocolate cake because the color photo was so pretty. I still have the book, but I am looking forward to experimenting with the recipes in today’s paper [“German Chocolate: More Than Just a Cake,” by Regina Schrambling, Feb. 6].
