Re “Leno writes a wrong,” Opinion, Jan. 5

Although the Writers Guild of America may bar its members from writing for struck companies such as NBC, I am fairly certain that it does not prohibit them from speaking.

An easy way for Jay Leno, who is a longtime WGA member, to get around this restriction is to simply dispense with the writing-down part: Just formulate the jokes in his mind, memorize and then deliver them on the air. These jokes are supposed to be ad-lib anyway.
