CW is cutting department, jobs

Struggling with low ratings and the lingering effects of the writers strike, the CW television network confirmed that it was shuttering its stand-alone scripted comedy development department and shedding about 25 employees.
“The CW is restructuring some programming and marketing functions as part of an effort to streamline,” the CW -- a joint venture between CBS Corp. and Warner Bros. -- said in a statement.
