17-year-old badly hurt in shooting

A 17-year-old boy was in “extremely critical condition” Sunday after being found riddled with bullets in the bed of the Los Angeles River.
Police said the shooting occurred about 3:30 a.m. and that “a witness heard gunshots followed by several people running,” said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Ed Hernandez.
The teenager was found near the junction of the 710 Freeway and Firestone Boulevard.
Police said they were investigating the shooting as gang-related.
