Drop gun issue

Re “Scattershot approach,” editorial, Oct. 13
The gun issue is a dead horse for the Democratic Party.
I am an independent, gay, gun-owning man. I can assure you that Barack Obama would not have the votes to push through draconian anti-firearms legislation.
Also, it is a gross absurdity to claim the NRA is fighting for felons and the mentally ill to have access to firearms. This civil rights organization has backed the National Instant Check System so that prohibited individuals are not allowed to purchase or gain access to firearms.
