Franken wins nomination

Comedian Al Franken won the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate, setting up a showdown with Republican Sen. Norm Coleman. With 33% of precincts reporting, Franken had 68% of the vote.
Franken, who gained fame as a “Saturday Night Live” cast member, easily beat six other Democrats. Coleman trounced his only opponent, an expatriate living in Italy.
