Preliminary figures show U.S. skier visits during the winter dropped more than 5% from the record visits posted the year before.
Visits fell to 57 million from more than 60 million, the National Ski Areas Assn. said.
The Southeast, with the smallest share of the business, was the only region to see an increase in visits, which were up nearly 2%.
By contrast, resorts in the Rockies, the Pacific West and the Midwest saw declines in the 7% to 8% range. The Northeast was down about 2%.
