Crank up the mosaic

Anyone who’s walked from the arrival gates to baggage claim in American Airlines’ terminal at Los Angeles International Airport can spot the inspiration for the indoor-outdoor mosaic tables by Plain Air. “We are obsessed with tile, from the great tile corridor at LAX to the amazing tiled buildings all over Lisbon,” says L.A. landscape designer Judy Kameon, who designed the patio pieces with husband Erik Otsea. As a salute to California’s clean and colorful post-World War II outdoor furniture, the collection includes powder-coated stainless steel tables, benches, chairs and a daybed, with prices ranging from $450 to $3,800. Each is paved with glass mosaic tiles or covered in weatherproof cushions; a classic hoop lounge chair has a seat strung with vinyl cord. The showroom is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays and by appointment. 2340 W. 3rd St., Los Angeles; (213) 380-3185; www.plainair.com.
