Dreaming of a “White Christmas”?
Bing Crosby’s former home in Rancho Mirage has come on the market at $3,495,000.
The sprawling 6,700-square-foot estate sits on more than an acre in the Thunderbird Heights neighborhood with a hillside backdrop. Asian influences start with the foyer’s 10-foot front door. The décor also incorporates midcentury film posters (in the studio screening room) and other Hollywood memorabilia and photographs.
The single-story house, built in 1957, opens to an outdoor swimming pool and spa with adjacent fireplaces and a putting green. Singer and actor Crosby often entertained other celebrities around the pool.
There are five bedrooms and 51/2 bathrooms, including a suite named the Kennedy Wing in honor of President John Kennedy’s 1962 visit to Palm Springs. The suite features a kitchen, living area and separate entrance.
The estate is in use as a resort rental.
The crooner had more than three dozen No. 1 hits, and his rendition of Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas” is one of the all-time bestselling singles. The Academy Award-winning movie star was the top box-office draw five different years. Crosby died in 1977 at age 74.
Valery Neuman of Windermere Real Estate is the listing agent.
