'Frozen' wins Annie Award for best animated film, several others

Walt Disney Animation Studio’s box office blockbuster “Frozen” won the 41st Annie Award for animated flm Saturday evening at a ceremony at UCLA’s Royce Hall.

The film, which is nominated for an Oscar for animated feature, also won the honors for directing for Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee; music for Kristen Anderson-Lopez, Robert Lopez and Christophe Beck; production design; and voice acting for Josh Gad as Olaf.

DreamWorks Animation’s “The Croods” earned trophies for animated effects in an animated feature, character animation and character design.

In other awards, Disney’s “Get a Horse!” won for animated short subject; Pixar’s “Monsters University” received honors in the storyboarding and editorial categories; “Futurama” received the Annie for best general audience animated TV/broadcast production; “The Last of Us” earned the honor for best animated video game; and Tom Kenny won for voice acting in an animated TV/broadcast production as the Ice King in the Cartoon Network’s “Adventure Time.”
