The impressive origins of Bruce Lee and John Wayne on DVD

Though seeing stars in their fully developed glory is always special, seeing them before the world fully recognized their gifts is also something very much worth doing.
In Bruce Lee’s case, that task has been made easy by the folks at Shout Factory who have come up with an impressive package fittingly called “Bruce Lee: The Legacy Collection.”
This handsome box set includes such early martial arts classics as “The Big Boss” and “Fist of Fury” as well as a pair of Bruce Lee documentaries and lots of bonus material.

Also visible in his early days is the very different John Wayne.
The people at Olive Films have made available a trio of westerns he did in the 1930s -- “The Lawless Nineties,” “Wyoming Outlaw” and “Westward Ho” -- as well as a 1941 item called “A Man Betrayed,” which features Wayne in a suit as a small-town lawyer.
