The second season of FX’s “Fargo,” the acclaimed project that won the Golden Globe and the Emmy for best miniseries, will be more sprawling, a lot more comedic and feature the character of Ronald Reagan.
FX Networks President John Landgraf gave a few clues about the next season, which starts production Monday in Calgary, during his executive session at the Television Critics Assn. winter press tour.
“It’s set against the backdrop of Ronald Reagan’s first presidential campaign,” said Landgraf, who added that the show will be focused on the theme of “the war coming home to America.” There will also be several strong female characters, he said.
The cast includes Kirsten Dunst, Ted Danson and Patrick Wilson. None of the characters from the previous season are scheduled to appear.
In other news, Pamela Aldon (“Louie”) will create and star in a new comedy pilot, “Better Things,” that will be directed by Louis C.K. Aldon will play a working actress trying to make a career while handling a chaotic personal life.
