Expedition Unknown Host Josh Gates travels to southern Japan for a submarine adventure in search of a sunken city nicknamed “Japan’s Atlantis.” 9 p.m. Travel

Nashville This new episode follows several of the show’s stars around the country for personal appearances and concerts. With Clare Bowen, Charles Esten, Chris Carmack, Aubrey Peeples, and Lennon and Maisy Stella. 10 p.m. ABC

Time Scanners As the new miniseries that uses modern technology to examine ancient locations visits the Colosseum in Rome. 10 p.m. KOCE and KPBS

The Magicians Syfy offers a preview of a the new fantasy series (premiering in January). Adapted from a novel of the same name by Lev Grossman, the series is set at Brakebills College for Magical Pedagogy. Jason Ralph, Stella Maeve, Hale Appleman, Arjun Gupta, Summer Bishil and Olivia Taylor Dudley also star. 10 p.m. Syfy

Christmas Through the Decades The ends its run with a look at the holidays during the ‘90s. 10 p.m. History
