The Vegetabrella: A nifty shelter from the rain
- Share via
Am I dreaming? I have always wanted an umbrella that looked like a head of lettuce. Hasn’t everyone? And now, via the Japanese design blog Spoon & Tamago, it’s here. You’ll have to order the Vegetabrella from Japan for 4,725 yen (about $60), but that’s a small inconvenience to be the first in your neighborhood (should it ever rain again) to shelter from the rain in such a nifty manner.
Closed, it really does look like a fresh head of Romaine. Designed by Yurie Mano for H Concept and manufactured by the family-owned Tokyo Noble, it has a clever closure that looks like a produce band and stays slightly crinkled when unfolded and in use.
Vegetabrella from Koncent in Japan (the site, unfortunately is only in Japanese). Also available from Nihon Ichiban for the same price and this site is in English.
