Pendleton-Based Marine Killed in Iraq Explosion

The Pentagon said Wednesday that a Norwalk Marine based at Camp Pendleton was killed along with another serviceman in Iraq this week when ordnance they were handling exploded.
Pfc. Jose Francis Gonzalez Rodriguez, 19, of Norwalk and Lance Cpl. Jakub Henryk Kowalik, 21, of Schaumberg, Ill., were killed Monday, the Defense Department said in a news release. The two were assigned to the 1st Force Service Support Group at Camp Pendleton.
