Saddle up your Trek, Schwinn, or Bianchi (or other brand), the bicycle renaissance is coming Sunday to the streets of San Diego.
The first-ever CicloSDias event is set to peddle off at 10 a.m. along a 5.2-mile route closed off to vehicle traffic. The event is set to last until 4 p.m.
Biking, dancing and walking are all encouraged on a route that extends from Golden Hill through North Park and South Park to reach Cherokee Point Elementary School in City Heights. Kids and dogs are invited.
Starting point is 38th Street and Wightman Street. For more information, check out CicloSDias.com.
Bicycle holidays are a regular event in Los Angeles. In San Diego, the organizers are different but the idea is much the same.
The goal, said Andy Hanshaw of the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition, is to start “a new way of thinking about the streets we share.”
