A brush fire in the Glendale hills sent a plume of white smoke hundreds of feet into the air Sunday afternoon that could be seen for miles.
The fire was burning near Brand Park in the 1600 block of Mountain Street, but no structures were threatened and no evacuations had been called as of 1 p.m., the city said on Twitter. Fire crews were at the scene, it said.
The fire was 15 acres in size, the city said shortly before 2:30 p.m., emphasizing that reports that it had grown to 50 acres were not true.
