A second male juvenile has been arrested in connection with a fatal car-to-car shooting last month on the 110 Freeway in South Los Angeles, authorities said.
The teenager, 17, was taken into custody Thursday morning. He is the second person arrested this week in the July 2 shooting, said LAPD Det. Supervisor Sal LaBarbera with the Criminal Gang Homicide Division.
Another 17-year-old was taken into custody Wednesday.
“We believe one of these two is the shooter,” LaBarbera said. “We’re still attempting to figure out if there was anyone else in the car with the suspects.”
Elroy Anderson Schenck, 41, was driving north on the freeway when a dark-colored, four-door compact vehicle pulled up and someone in the car opened fire, authorities said. Schenck was taken to a hospital, where he died three days later.
The two arrests came after several search warrants were served this week, LaBarbera said.
Both of the suspects are documented gang members, he said.
