Ventura County firefighters battle brush fire by Lake Piru

Firefighters in Ventura County were battling a brush fire Wednesday evening near Lake Piru.
The blaze was reported about 6:15 p.m. and had burned about five acres of brush when crews arrived on the scene, the Ventura County Fire Department said. The blaze was called the Cross incident.
Fire commanders on the ground requested at least one air tanker to help attack the blaze.
No other details were immediately available.
[Updated 8:20 p.m.: The fire was held to five acres and crews were planning to work through the night to build containment lines, fire officials said.]
