National anthem: Controversial deliveries

Despite having plenty of experience singing it at sporting events, Christina Aguilera flubbed the lines at the Super Bowl in 2011. Singing at the U.S. Open tennis tournament in New York on Sept. 11, 2011, Cyndi Lauper declared our flag to be still streaming, or something like that. Afterward, in a pair of messages on Twitter, Lauper said:

Whew, I just did the anthem for the US open. It was an awesome experience.I got choked up in the middle remembering 9/11.

The moon shone done on us and I tried to say a prayer at the same time.. I hope I didn’t mess up too bad. I wanted it to be comforting. Xcyn
