Readers React: That public parking space isn’t yours to sell

To the editor: One of the small pleasures in life has been parking at a meter with time left on it by the previous motorist. The prospect of giving that pleasure to someone else when I left my space before the allotted time elapsed made me happy too. (“L.A. officials seek to ease parking problems,” Oct. 8)
How sad to read there are apps like MonkeyParking that allow drivers leaving a parking spot to auction off their remaining time to the highest bidder. Is there nothing left in our society that is not for sale?

To the editor: The safest advice is to avoid any street that has three or more parking restrictions posted.
