Baseball: It’s another Foothill League sweep in Division 1

All hail the Foothill League, whose three playoff representatives, Hart, Saugus and Valencia, won again on Tuesday in the Southern Section Division 1 playoffs.
Paul Richan threw a one-hitter in Hart’s 3-0 win over Calabasas. Chase Wheatcroft threw the shutout and Rex Kemple hit a home run in Saugus’ 1-0 win over Capistrano Valley. Kevin Chandler got the save and Scott Ogrin hit two home runs in Valencia’s 4-3 win over Agoura.
All advance to Friday’s quarterfinals. Hart will play No. 1 JSerra. Valencia will face Norco and Saugus will take on the winner of Arlington-Long Beach Millikan.
JSerra held on for a 7-5 win over Fountain Valley. Brady Shockey had two hits and three RBIs and Ryan Pena had a home run. JT Navarro had three hits for Fountain Valley.
No. 2 Huntington Beach defeated Long Beach Wilson, 3-0. Hagen Danner threw a seven-hitter, striking out five. Logan Pouelsen, Kyle Coburn and Cooper Moore each had two hits. Norco defeated North, 9-4.
El Dorado knocked off Harvard-Westlake, 3-0. Jake Mahood, Skyler McMillan and Nick Sprengel combined on the shutout. Rob Diaz had two hits. El Dorado will face Huntington Beach on Friday.
Arlington defeated Long Beach Milikan, 2-1. Arlington pitchers have allowed one run in 24 playoff innings.
In Division 2, Mission Viejo defeated Oxnard, 11-0. Cole Joy had three hits and two RBIs. Tanner Bibee threw six shutout innings. Chino Hills defeated Rio Mesa, 6-2. Elijah Greene and Christopher Ceballos each hit home runs. Carter defeated Etiwanda, 2-1, in nine innings. San Clemente defeated Dos Pueblos, 10-1.
Bonita defeated Gahr, 7-2. Brandon Bradshaw and Justin Gomez each had two hits and Isaiah Haro threw five shutout innings. Royal defeated Damien, 7-1. Moorpark defeated Burroughs, 1-0. Kenny Varnell struck out eight and threw a five-hitter. Crescenta Valley defeated Trabuco Hills, 5-1. Brian Gadsby came back on three days rest to throw a two-hitter. Kewin Ledesma had three hits.
In Division 3, Danny Zimmerman threw a three-hit shutout in Redondo’s 5-0 win over El Segundo. San Dimas improved to 30-0 behind a no-hitter from Jacob Castillo in a 17-0 win over Garden Grove. Castillo struck out 13. Jonathan Longin had three hits and three RBIs.
Sergio Robles had three hits and three RBIs in Bishop Amat’s 11-3 win over Rancho Alamitos. Clarence Carter and Jayson Gonzalez also had three hits.
Quartz Hill defeated Beckman, 5-4, in eight innings.
In Division 5, Village Christian defeated Big Bear, 4-0. Jesse Hanckel threw the shutout. The Crusaders will face Hemet in the quarterfinals. Lompoc Cabrillo defeated Sierra Canyon, 15-10.
