Baseball: Lincoln reaches Dodger Stadium for first time in school history
Tigers gets walk-off squeeze bunt to win in seventh

The Lincoln High baseball team can see the lights of Dodger Stadium from their football field, and for the first time in school history, the team will get to play there.
Lincoln advanced to the City Section Division II championship game with a 4-3 victory over South Gate on Tuesday when Marcos Flores put down a squeeze bunt in the bottom of the seventh with the bases loaded that scored a sliding Matt Castro with the winning run at the Urban Youth Academy.
“It’s a dream we’ve all been having,” Flores said.
Lincoln, which is 100 years old, has never played in a baseball final. The Tigers will face Chavez, a 4-1 winner over Franklin, in Saturday’s 10 a.m. final.
Hugo Avendano threw the complete game for Lincoln. South Gate rallied from a 3-0 deficit to tie the game in the sixth. Frank Gonzalez had an RBI triple and Steve Benitez tied it up with an RBI sacrifice fly.
But Lincoln got singles from Castro and Chris Frias to start the bottom of the seventh and after an intentional walk to load the bases, Flores put down his bunt to the right side.
