Boys’ basketball: Harry Daye is the ultimate fan
- Share via
Harry Daye, the father of former Granada Hills Kennedy, UCLA and NBA player Darren Daye, was at the Nike Extravaganza from early in the afternoon until 11:35 p.m. on Saturday. Not bad for an 81-year-old.
Just call him the ultimate high school basketball fan. I’ve been seeing him at games since his son, Darren, was playing for Kennedy in 1978. Darren was the MVP of the 1979 McDonald’s All American game.
Daye’s grandson, Austin, was a first-round NBA draft pick by the Detroit Pistons in 2009 after playing for Irvine Woodbridge and Gonzaga.
Darren was alongside his father all day and night on Saturday. It was great to see father and son just enjoying games of basketball together like old times.
