Boys’ basketball: Sierra Canyon’s Marvin Bagley III is ineligible

The Southern Section office has declared 6-foot-10 sophomore transfer Marvin Bagley III ineligible for this season because his transfer to Chatsworth Sierra Canyon was athletically motivated, according to Southern Section spokesman Thom Simmons.
Bagley can appeal.
Bagley is considered one of the top college prospects from the class of 2018.
He came from Arizona.
According to the Southern Section website, he’s not eligible until Jan. 4, 2017, which means he’ll also miss the first month of next season.
