Steelers receiver Mike Wallace ends holdout

All-Pro wide receiver Mike Wallace has finally reported to work for the Pittsburgh Steelers, ending a holdout that lasted through training camp and the first three games of the preseason.

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the restricted free agent arrived at the team’s practice facility around 11:30 a.m. intending to sign his one-year, $2.7-million tender.

Wallace’s teammates have been saying for awhile that they expected their teammate to show up soon, and it was Steelers linebacker James Harrison who landed the “first interview” with the receiver from the Steelers’ locker room Tuesday morning.

Harrison posted a video of the interview on yfrog — OK, so you have to tilt your head sideways to watch it, but I’m pretty sure Steelers fans will be happy enough just seeing Wallace back at work.

“It feels great to be back with my brothers, my teammates,” Wallace tells Harrison. “We’re out just trying to win a Super Bowl. Just trying to do my part, that’s all, brother.”

Harrison also asks Wallace about the concern that receiver might not have given himself enough time to acclimate himself to new offensive coordinator Todd Haley’s system.

“You know me, I’m a work-hard guy,” Wallace said. “I’ve been going over all my plays, been doing all that so there’s not going to be no slow stuff.”

He added: “I’m already ready, man, and I know the playbook in and out, for the most part.”
