More golf madness: Lee Westwood on Twitter rampage
- Share via
Seems the recent PGA Championship left some golfers in a tetchy mood.
While Ian Poulter suggested using Tasers on vociferous fans, fellow UK player Lee Westwood went on a three-hour Twitter rant against the “trolls” who criticized his play.
I love slagging people back! Had enough of sitting there taking it. Bring it on!— Lee Westwood (@WestwoodLee) August 12, 2013
And
If you’re going to abuse me at least do it properly! Numbskulls!— Lee Westwood (@WestwoodLee) August 12, 2013
Westwood began Sunday’s final round within six strokes of the lead but struggled throughout the day, finishing with a 76 that left him far off the pace. He has now failed to win a major in 63 attempts.
The vitriol finally ended with Westwood writing:
Not been hacked. Just honest. Bored now. Westy out.— Lee Westwood (@WestwoodLee) August 12, 2013
He came back six hours later to offer a mea culpa.
Sincere apologies to my sponsors and true followers for my earlier comments. It was out of order and out of character, Westy.— Lee Westwood (@WestwoodLee) August 12, 2013
