Watch fan shove basketball player in Miami-North Carolina State game

North Carolina State's Anthony Barber was shoved in the back by a fan sitting courtside during Thursday night's ACC matchup between the Wolfpack and the Miami Hurricanes.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound sophomore guard hit the deck in front of the first row of seats after fouling Miami guard Angel Rodriguez with 21 seconds left in the game.

As Barber got to his feet, he was shoved in the back by a fan seated on the court. Barber and the fan appeared to exchange words after the incident.

"I don't think it was a really hard shove," NC State Coach Mark Gottfried said after the game. "Certainly, you don't want fans putting their hands on players. That should never happen, anywhere, certainly, but we'll move on from it."

Miami Coach Jim Larranaga, who learned of the shove after the game, apologized to the visiting coach, as did the school's Athletic Director Blake James.

"First, I want to apologize to the student-athlete involved, Coach Gottfried and North Carolina State University," James said in a statement released to the Associated Press. "This type of behavior is not representative of the University of Miami or our athletic program and will not be tolerated. We will review the video and discuss with the ACC the appropriate actions in addressing this issue."

Barber had six points with six assists and three rebounds in the Wolfpack's loss to the Hurricanes, 65-60.

Miami (13-5, 3-2 ACC) travels to Syracuse (14-5, 5-1 ACC) on Saturday. NC State (13-7, 4-3 ACC) hosts No. 8 Notre Dame (18-2, 6-1 ACC) on Sunday.
