UCLA signee Grant Sherfield receives release from letter of intent

Grant Sherfield, a combo guard from Wichita (Kan.) Sunrise Christian High who signed with UCLA in November, has requested and received a release from his letter of intent in a move that will allow him to pursue opportunities from other schools.
Sherfield’s decision comes a little more than two weeks after the Bruins dismissed coach Steve Alford. Sherfield is listed as a three-star player on 247Sports’ five-star scale.
UCLA’s incoming recruiting class now consists of Jamie Jaquez, a small forward from Camarillo High, and Jake Kyman, a small forward from Santa Margarita High.
Jaquez and Kyman reaffirmed their allegiance to UCLA in the days after Alford was fired. The Bruins could also add to their class during the spring signing period in April.
