New Humphry Slocombe ice cream flavors? Yes, for Virgin America
- Share via
Humphry Slocombe has created three funky new ice cream flavors for Virgin America fliers, but only one will make the cut for first-class service.
Passengers and fans have until Friday to tweet their favorite -- #ButterByMoodlight (buttery with a blueberry glaze), #RedHotBanana (real Red Hot candies mashed into it) or #CoconutBlondAmbition (vanilla marshmallow fluff meets lemon sorbet).
(If you don’t recognize this hipster ice cream maker, it’s the one that uses Bourbon and cornflakes in its Secret Breakfast flavor.)
The hand-made ice cream that gains the most tweets will be delivered daily to the airline’s San Francisco Airport terminal and served in first class for flights from the West Coast to Newark, N.J.; New York; Boston; and Washington starting on March 4.
Fliers who prefer a more staid ice cream option can stick with Tahitian Vanilla, which also will be served on board.
Besides the ice cream, the airline is rolling out linen table service and cocktail hors d’oeuvres -- an olive and mozzarella skewer or marinated artichoke, for example -- as part of their upgraded premium meal service (new menu won’t be posted until March 4).
An added perk: Any Virgin America passenger can flash their boarding pass for a free scoop of ice cream at the ice cream maker’s San Francisco locations from March 4 to June 30.
