Showtime at Reno’s Artown fest

Artown: The monthlong Reno event has more than 350 activities and events focusing on theater, music, dance, film and art education for kids (including a circus, puppet show and hands-on art at cultural venues). Among highlights: the Food for the Soul and Rollin’ on the River music series, Movies in the Park (“The Day the Earth Stood Still” and “Field of Dreams,” among others) and Artouring (artist studio tours), shows by aerial troupe Strange Fruit, which performs atop flexible, 13-foot-high poles, and a performance by jazz artist Poncho Sanchez.
When, where: July 1 to 31 at various locations in Reno.
Admission: Many events are free.
