Costa Mesa Man Held in Stabbing of Bar Customer

A Costa Mesa man was arrested early Tuesday after a bar patron was stabbed outside the Flame Room in Costa Mesa, police said.
The victim, Romeo A. Medrano, 21, suffered a shoulder wound two inches deep, Police Lt. Jack Calnon said. Medrano was treated at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in Newport Beach and was released.
Robert A. Augsburger, 35, was booked into the city jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and was being held on $10,000 bail, police said.
Augsburger’s girlfriend, Janice Celia Berry, 24, although apparently not involved in the fight, was arrested on warrants charging her with two burglaries, failure to appear in court on traffic violations and violation of probation in Fresno County, according to Lt. Tom Lazar. Berry was being held in Orange County Jail on $250 bail.
Police said the stabbing occurred about 2 a.m. in the parking lot of the bar, 1880 Monrovia Ave., when Augsburger and Medrano got into a fight. Calnon said paramedics treated Medrano in the tavern while police arrested Augsburger.
