SAN DIEGO — The California Ballet Assn. Auxiliary will hold a reception for the dancers and director of the Bolshoi Ballet Academy, after the 65-member ensemble performs its opening-night program Tuesday at Civic Theatre. The reception, slated for 10 p.m. at the Westgate Hotel, will be a benefit for the California Ballet’s Choreographer’s Project.
Three’s Company’s associate artistic director, Nancy McCaleb, returned to her old hunting grounds in the Northwest recently to set “Gurney” for the Oregon Dance Company. In the fall, McCaleb will create a dance work for the University of Nevada’s New Music/Dance Series. San Diego musicians Miles Anderson and Erica Sharp will compose the score.
Three’s Company’s co-founder Betzi Roe, returning from her second extended teaching and performing stint in the Soviet Union, will perform at the Los Angeles Kaleidoscope Festival, scheduled from July 23-28.
