A shot fired after an argument between two men in Van Nuys Friday night struck and killed a friend of the intended victim, police said.
The gunman fired several shots at a pickup truck carrying the victim and his friend on Kester Avenue just south of Victory Boulevard after he and one of the pickup’s occupants had earlier argued outside the truck, Los Angeles Police Sgt. Fred Haptonstal said.
The unidentified suspect fled after the shooting, police said.
The dead man’s name was not released. Police said it was not immediately known if the shooting was gang-related.
