A former linebacker on Syracuse University’s football team and his wife are among those missing and believed killed in Wednesday’s crash of a United Airlines jetliner in Sioux City, Iowa, relatives said.
Mike Zunic, 30, who started as an inside linebacker for three seasons at Syracuse, and his wife Judy, 30, boarded the DC-10 at the last minute as they were making their way back to their home in Manlius, a Syracuse suburb, after a vacation in Hawaii.
The Zunics, both natives of Wexford, Pa., a suburb of Pittsburgh, lived in New York City, Boston and Los Angeles before his transfer two years ago to the Oscar Mayer and Co. office in Salina, N.Y. Zunic was a regional sales manager for Oscar Mayer.
