Arboretum Is Evacuated After Hotel Is Robbed

Police shooed dozens of visitors and field staffers out of the Los Angeles State and County Arboretum in Arcadia on Wednesday afternoon because of the possibility that two armed robbery suspects might be on the grounds.
The order to leave came shortly after four gunmen robbed Embassy Suites, a local hotel, and fled westbound on the 210 Freeway with officers in pursuit. The suspects stopped their stolen getaway car at Baldwin Avenue, raced across all lanes of the freeway and hopped a fence, police said.
Sgt. Robert Sanderson of the Arcadia Police Department said police arrested two of the fleeing men in a residential neighborhood and searched the area for the other two without immediate success.
