L. Glenn Switzer; Formed Ready-Mix Concrete Firm

L. Glenn Switzer, 96, who in 1930 formed the Transit Mixed Concrete Co. in Pasadena, the first ready-mix concrete company in Southern California. Switzer and his family utilized the then-new concept of ready-mix at construction sites throughout Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and Imperial counties. The firm also manufactured concrete blocks and panels. Switzer was a lifelong Quaker and in 1954 was national president of the national Conference of Quaker Men. In Pasadena on July 11.
