Navy Recruit Injured in Fall at Sunset Cliffs

A 19-year-old naval recruit who fell 75 feet from Sunset Cliffs was in serious condition at UC San Diego Medical Center Friday, police said.
Dana Liesegang, a fireman recruit attached to the submarine tender McKee in San Diego, was walking along the cliffs with a friend in the 4500 block of Ladera Street about 10 p.m. Thursday when she fell and landed on the beach below, police said.
Lifeguards, firefighters, and a police helicopter assisted in rescuing Liesegang from the beach. She was taken to the hospital by Life Flight.
